Fun Fair of the Future – Presentation of innovative treatment methods
Best Practice Showcase by the Dutch Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies (VGCt)
A so called “Fun Fair of the Future” was successfully launched at last year’s CBT conference in the Netherlands: it was a huge success!
Attendees as well as the presenters at the fair were enthusiastic about this new element added to the conference . The Fun Fair is an E-Market where the most recent and innovative developments in E-mental health were demonstrated. Attendees did get the opportunity to really see, feel, and experience these technological developments to learn how it can add value in clinical practice and were able to meet the researchers who are testing it.
A wide variety of different types of E-mental health applications were demonstrated, such as:
- apps to monitor, for example, symptoms on a daily basis;
- online CBT;
- virtual reality;
- Cognitive Bias Modification training;
- games, etc.
These innovations can be used for different complaints and disorders. And not only as a stand-alone version, but can also be integrated in regular CBT therapy (blended-care), where online and face-to-face contact are combined.
The scientific committee of the EABCT 2014 congress in Den Haag is looking for possibilities to implement this concept in their congress. We hope this showcase can inspire future congress organizers to adopt this idea.
