Woodfield Trauma Service

The Woodfield Trauma Service provides treatment for refugees, asylum seekers and forced migrants suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. On their homepage you can find information on what is PTSD, how to manage symptoms, and they offer services. Beside short psychoeducational texts (available in English), you will find free audio recordings on various topics in English, Arabic and Farsi.

World Health Organization

Amongst other the WHO offers a guide that covers psychological first aid which involves humane, supportive and practical help to fellow human beings suffering serious crisis events. It is written for people in a position to help others who have experienced an extremely distressing event. It gives a framework for supporting people in ways that respect their dignity, culture and abilities.

It is availble in more than 30 languages.

CPAOR/ Child Protection Area of Responsibility

 

Under this link you will find an audio files website of the Child Protection Area of Responsibility. On this site you will find audio files that can be freely used. The CPAOR´s intention is to provide support for people in places around the world where face-to-face support cannot be provided. The only possible ways are proving support through radio stations, through loudspeakers (e.g. camp settings) or phone.

The files that you will find here are produced by the partners who are members of the Child Protection Area of Responsibility. The content has been checked by the Child Protection Area of Responsibility for quality and appropriateness for use in under privileged part of the world.

“Psychological first aid” on Coursera

Learn to provide psychological first aid to people in an emergency by employing the RAPID model: Reflective listening, Assessment of needs, Prioritization, Intervention, and Disposition.

To visit this course for free you will be asked to fill out the free registration and than opt for visiting the course without acquiring credit points/ course certificate.

The course is available in English with a big variety of subtitles.

OxCADAT website

 

The OxCADAT (Oxford Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma – run by Anke Ehlers and David Clark) website offers a lot of free resources on the work with trauma-clients, amongst others a recording of a workshop by Anke Ehlers on CT for PTSD (evidence-based treatment for PTSD) and training films on every part of their PTSD model.

European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies

The ESTSS offers different resources for mental health professionals and persons affected. Amongst them factsheets and links for first responders, humanitarian workers, individuals affected by war, diaster and other traumatic events as well as for clinicians.

A special service is their online supervision for Ukrainian professionals helping others while also being affected themselves. Find the link to the zoom meetings on “helping the helper” here.

AMiE School of CBT for Ukraine

Sharing psychological skills at the time of war

Prof. Robert Leahy in association with Iga Jaraczewska, head of the Academy of Education and Motivation – AMIE School of CBT in Warsaw invite you to enter this platform. It consists of training sessions to help you work with refugees from the Ukrainian war and others. The trainings are presented in 3 languages: English, Polish and Ukrainian.

Since the beginning of the Russian war in Ukraine Bob and Iga jointly set up this programme of talks and are grateful to the guest speakers who offered their expertise and reputation for free. All costs involved with this project have been covered by the AMIE School of CBT.
